Laser Tattoo Removal- RevLite Tattoo Removal

The advent of the Q-switched lasers has permitted the removal of most tattoos, with very good results. Q-switched lasers release energy in a single, powerful pulse and are often the best treatment for tattoo removal. A special type of laser called a Q-switched Nd:YAG is used on darker skin to avoid changing skin colour permanently. At The Skin Clinic, we use  RevliteTM, a nanosecond Q-switched Nd:YAG laser to remove tattoos.

The RevliteTM represents the gold-standard for tattoo removal, with multiple wavelengths to choose from.  It utilizes an extremely high speed shutter to produce nanosecond pulse widths, enabling a highly effective procedure, with less heat and increased safety.  The RevliteTM laser has four different Q-switched laser wavelengths to choose from (dark ink 1064nm; red ink 532nm;  light blue 585nm;  green 650nm).  Tattoo ink is removed by using a specific wavelength which passes through the skin but is absorbed by the ink.  The rapid absorption of light energy causes the tattoo ink to break down, where it is removed by the body’s natural filtering system.

Tattoo Removal With PICOCARE450

The Skin Clinic uses the cutting-edge PICOCARE450 laser for full range tattoo removal in Mangalore. The Micro Lens Array (MLA) handpiece of the PICOCARE450 has multiple lenses converging on to the skin, producing a high-intensity impact on a specific site. This makes the laser soft on the skin, but hard on the scars. The result — soft, shallow and much better-looking skin after the treatment. All this, with minimal downtime and marginal pain!

Here is what makes the PICOCARE450 unique:

  • It will get the job done in just a few sittings and will give you faster visible results.
  • Compared to conventional lasers, the treatment is less painful. If required in some cases, the anaesthetic cream could be used to reduce the pain.
  • The treatment takes only about 20 minutes but can be more depending on the indication and body part to be treated.

After the treatment, it is highly recommended to use non-irritating, hypoallergenic regenerating cream or moisturizer and sunscreen cream every 3 to 4 hours.

FAQ's About Laser Tattoo Removal

Number of sessions needed to remove tattoos permanently?

Amateur tattoos take 1-3 sessions. Professional tattoos take 4- 8 sessions (depending on the depth of the ink)

How frequent are the tattoo removal treatments?

The treatments are done at 8-week intervals (1 treatment every 2 months).

What are the side effects of Laser Tattoo Removal?

99 percent of the patients do not experience any side effects. You may have slight swelling in the area on the day of the treatment. As the days go by, you will be able to see the visible results of the tattoo fading away. Your immune system does the work of expelling or absorbing the pigments, once the tattoo has been lasered. That is why a gap of at least 2 months should be given in between treatments, to allow the macrophages to play their role.

Will my skin be damaged when the tattoo has been removed?

Not at all. The tattoo is erased completely, leaving the underlying skin clear. This is the case for most patients. Only if you have a tendency to develop keloids or hypertrophic scars owing to past traumas, you will be advised against this tattoo removal procedure.
